Pocono Mountain Regional police reported investigating a domestic assault incident.

Police said about 6:42 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, police received a call from a neighbor of 6307 Ventnor Drive, A Pocono Country Place, Tobyhanna, that a female was being assaulted in front of the residence.Police arrived and found Maria Melendez, 27, of that address. She told officers the father of her children, Isaiah Gilbert Garcia, 27, also of that address, had grabbed her by the wrists and neck after a verbal argument. Some of the incidents occurred in the home and some outside.Garcia had left the residence prior to the arrival of officers. Melendez had visible injuries to her neck and complained of pain.Police said charges were filed against Garcia charging him with simple assault.
