The Western Pocono Lioness Club held its July meeting with an ice cream social being part of it. With a variety of ice cream flavors and toppings, members and guests made their own cool desserts.

Among the guests were Priya Patel and Robert Nichols, this year's Lioness scholarship winners. Patel will study for becoming a physician's assistant; Nichols, headed to Ithaca College, will minor in music and work toward a degree in optometry.

Jennie Fiore was installed into the club as a member, with her sister-in-law and sponsor, Janette Russo, standing at her side.

Also introduced was the new Lioness Club secretary, Camille De Sando.

A bit of club history was shared by Lioness Dee Merendini, who had received packet of club information from charter club President Mary Jane Smith, formerly of Effort, now living in Millerton, PA with her granddaughter.

The club's next meeting, on Aug. 24, will be a preview of the upcoming club's fashion show in September, by Coldwater Creek, which will present the fund-raiser show at that time.

In the interim, the club will work on its West End Fair display for the Group Exhibit Building at the fair and continue to work on related fashions how duties.
