Fuel spill delays traffic through Slatington

Traffic was backed up for several hours in downtown Slatington after a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation truck spilled fluid Thursday afternoon.

Borough police Sgt. Deron Dorward said the spill occurred at around 1 p.m. in the 400 block of Main Street, and continued into the borough of Walnutport.Dorward said traffic on the northbound lanes was detoured for about two hours until the spill was cleaned up."I think everything went smoothly," Dorward said.He said that along with PennDOT and the police department, the borough's public works department and fire department also assisted with the cleanup.
