4 Marian students receive science awards

Four Marian High School students received awards during the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Regional Competition, held recently at Easton Area High School. Sister Bernard Agnes, IHM, Marian principal has announced that Gabriella Smith, Patrick Darrough, Ryan Darrough and Barry Fulton all received awards for their projects. The Darrough brothers are the sons of David and Colette Darrough. Ryan, a junior student, was presented a $50 Region 3 PJASAward for his behavioral psychology project. Patrick, a freshman, received a $100 PPL award for earning the first place Perfect Score Presentation Award for biology project. Fulton, the son of Barry and Mary Fulton, earned a second place presentation award for his ecology project. Smith, daughter of Franic and Sandra Smith, earned a second place presentation award for her ecology project. First place winners will attend the state competition at Penn State University Park Campus in May. The students were sponsored by Robert Valente, Marian's chemistry instructor, and Lorraine Piehota, retired Bishop Hafey science instructor.
