I.H.M., principal of Marian Catholic High School in Hometown, has announced that nine students in the senior class and two students in the junior class have scored 600 or above on the math, reading and writing sections of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). That averages out to 14 percent of the class of 2013.The College Board states that the SAT measures literacy and writing skills needed for academic success in college, as the SAT assesses how well the test takers analyze and solve problems skills they learned in school that they will need in college.The SAT is typically taken by high school sophomores, juniors and seniors.Students who scored 600 or better on the Math portion of the test are: Jessica Horlacher, John Julian, Ryan Karnish, Andrew Kelly, Christopher Postupack. Students who scored 600 or better in Reading are: Sara Fatula, Samantha Faust, Jessica Horlacher, Ryan Karnish, Andrw Kelly, Nicholas Kweder, Christopher Postupack. Students who scored 600 or better in Writing are: Sara Fatula, Samantha Faust, Jessica Horlacher, Ryan Karnish, Andrew Kelly, Nicholas Kweder, Christopher Postupack, Sara Zurawa.Marian Catholic High School juniors who scored 600 or better in Math are: Ryan Darrough and Mary Grega; 600 or better in Writing: Ryan Darrough.Four students in the senior class at Marian scored 600 or better in all three sections: Jessica Horlacher, Ryan Karnish, Andrew Kelly, Christopher Postupack.
