Chorale announces auditions

The Bach and Handel Chorale is holding three open rehearsals for its spring 2013 concert season on Monday, Jan. 7, 14, and 21.

Interested singers may attend the rehearsal with the chorale and remain for a short audition at the conclusion of the rehearsal.Rehearsals are held Monday evenings beginning at 7:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 319 South Ave., Jim Thorpe.All voices are needed. Membership is open to students in seventh-12th grade in addition to adult membership of those 18 years old and up.Scheduled are the Easter Concert, Saturday, April 6 at 3 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 21 Race Street, Jim Thorpe; and a benefit concert on Saturday, May 18 at 3 p.m. at Tamaqua Community Arts Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua.The chorale will perform the "Easter Oratorio BWV 249" by Johann Sebastian Bach; "Lord in Thee have I Trusted" from "Dettingen Te Deum" by George Frideric Handel; "A Song for Laura" by Randall Douglas Perry; "I Am the Alpha and Omega" by Sir John Stainer; the opening chorus from Cantata BWV 149 "Man Singet mit Freuden vom Sieg" by Johann Sebastian Bach; "Hallelujah! Amen!" from "Judas Maccabaeus" by Handel; and the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's "Messiah."
