Kresgeville phone scam

A waitress at Cherries Diner, Kresgeville, was a potential victim of fraud.

Barbara Shoemaker, a waitress at the diner received a phone call on Aug. 15 at 3:30 p.m. at work from a man claiming to be Robert Koval/Reilley and working for the New Jersey Drug Task Force. He told Shoemaker that he was investigating the theft of diet pills from approximately 10 years prior, and requested $990 from Shoemaker as settlement.State police were contacted. An investigation revealed that the caller was providing false information and attempting to scam the victim. As a result, Shoemaker did not pay any money.
