Morgan Foundation matching Schuylkill United Way grants

For the 2014 Campaign, the John E. Morgan Foundation presented the Schuylkill United Way Pacesetters Club with two opportunities to help the community.

The foundation will, for the third consecutive year, match all new dollars donated to the Pacesetters Club during the 2014 Campaign. New Pacesetters who join will have their donation matched 100 percent, while current club members who increase their donation over last year will have their increase matched by the $50,000 matching grant."This year, a second matching grant is attached to a specific division," said William J. Folk, II, director of Community Relations, Schuylkill United Way. "The division chosen this year is the Physicians Division. This matching grant works the same way as the other matching grant, but its value is up to $10,000 of new money in that division.""We are once again pleased to partner with the Schuylkill United Way to assist the community here in Schuylkill County," said Jim Zigmant, president and chairman of the John E. Morgan Foundation. "We strive to participate in numerous nonprofit organizations, whether financially or through volunteering. Needless to say, we are proud to enhance the Schuylkill United Way Pacesetters program in any way we can."The role of the Pacesetters Club is traditionally to get a head start on the annual campaign, which begins each year in September. Club members "set the pace" for giving by running their part of the campaign before kick-off. The club is divided into six divisions according to the amount of the donation and includes only individual contributions. Copper is $500-$749, Bronze is $750-$999, Silver is $1,000-$1,499, Gold is $1,500-$1,999, Diamond is $2,000-$2,499, and Platinum is $2,500 and up.Pacesetter Club members continue to set records as last year with 406 members the highest membership to date. The Pacesetters combined to donate $367,000 toward the 2013 Schuylkill United Way Campaign total of $1,077,000.The club began in 1994 and has since raised over $3,000,000 to help support each of the 15 partner agencies who offer their programs and services for little to no cost."The Schuylkill United Way is extremely optimistic that with the help of the community and the continued support of all the kind individuals and companies who have contributed over the years, that they will reach the 2014 Campaign goal which has been set at $1,025,000," said Folk. The Schuylkill United Way 2014 "Together We Can" Campaign kicks off on Friday, Sept. 6 at 8 a.m. at Penn State Schuylkill in Schuylkill Haven. The campaign traditionally runs through November. For additional information, contact the Schuylkill United Way at (570) 622-6421 or online at
