American Legion Post 16 plans Slatington Memorial Day services

Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington, will hold Memorial Day services on outlying cemeteries on Sunday, May 27. They will be leaving the Post Home at 8 a.m.

The schedule will be Williamstown Cemetery at 8:10 a.m., Jacksonville Cemetery at 8:40 a.m., New Tripoli

U.C.C. Cemetery at 9:15 a.m., Heidelberg

U.C.C. at 8:45 a.m.; Neff's Lutheran Cemetery, 10:15 a.m., Seventh Street Catholic Church, 10:45 a.m.; Fairview Cemetery, 11 a.m. Friedens Cemetery, 11:15 a.m., and Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 11:45 a.m. and then back to the Post Home for dinner. Legionnaires Auxiliary, Sons of American Legion and Legion Riders are invited to attend.Memorial Day services will be held on Monday, May 28. They participants will leave the Post Home at 8 a.m. The first cemetery is the Catholic Cemetery, Washington Street, at 8:05 a.m., Slatedale Cemetery at 8:30 a.m., Trout Creek - New Covered Bridge in Slatington at 8:50 a.m., then back to the Post Home to form the parade at 9:30 a.m.The American Legion Post 16 will hold its 92nd consecutive Memorial Day Parade and Services at the Union Cemetery in Slatington. The parade will start from Main and Second streets at 10 a.m. and proceed to the Union Cemetery, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. The main speaker will be Robert Shalala, Pennsylvania American Legion Past Department Commander.In case of inclement weather, the services will be held at First Baptist Church, 509 Main St., Slatington.
