Felony charge filed against Lansford man

Christopher Miller, 23, 235 E. Ridge St., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which allegedly took place between April 14 and 15. Charges of corruption of minors (a felony) and indecent assault were filed by Det./Sgt. Jack Soberick. Miller was arraigned, and jailed under $25,000 straight bail.

Here's what happened, according to an affidavit of probable cause:Soberick initiated an investigation into a complaint that had been handled by fellow Officer Joshua Tom, concerning an adult male who was suspected of having sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl. The initial report indicated Miller had admitted to the act.Miller was interviewed by police at the station on April 15. He arrived with other family members, and was repeatedly advised that he was not in custody and was free to leave at any time. Miller said he understood, and was willing to cooperate with police.Soberick gave Miller his Miranda warnings, which he said he understood and waived.Miller told Soberick that he and the girl, along with her 14-year-old friend, had spent most of the evening and night of April 14 and the early morning of April 15 together, and had ended up at a home in the borough. It was there, Miller told police, that he put his hands inside the girl's pants and fondled her.In a subsequent interview, the girl told police the same story, but with additional details. She said she had not wanted Miller to touch her. She said she had told him no, but that he would not stop.
