Blue Mountain joins Anthracite League

Blue Mountain will be the second school to join the Anthracite Football League in 2012. The Eagles will be leaving the Berks County League and will enter the AFL in 2014. Lehighton is the other school that will be joining the AFL in 2014, parting ways with the Mountain Valley Conference. The AFL presently has nine teams and with the addition of Blue Mountain and Lehighton that will bring the total team count to 11. A meeting is being scheduled in mid-March with AFL officials to officially vote and approve the moves by each school. With the 11 team league format each team will have a nine-game league schedule which will leave a one game open date for a non-league opponent.
