A Tamaqua woman was lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, this past weekend after causing a disturbance in a local business.

Police were dispatched to Klingaman's Stationary Store on Broad Street at 3:50 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, to deal with a young woman who seemed to be intoxicated. At the scene, officers observed Mychal Beltrami, 26, picking items off the shelf, then dropping them, as well as knocking items off the shelf. Having dealt with Beltrami in the past the officers suspected she might have misused her medication or used illegal drugs.The officers conducted a records check and learned of two outstanding arrest warrants for Beltrami. She was taken into custody and a search of her property was conducted. The search turned up orange capped syringes, cotton, a spoon with some type of residue on it and 10 wax packets containing a suspected heroin.In addition to the outstanding warrants, Beltrami was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and public drunkenness.She was arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, who set bail at $1,000 straight cash, then transported to the prison.
