Panther Valley approves several personnel changes

Panther Valley School Board has approved personnel changes.

The board accepted the retirement of high school cafeteria head cook Lennora Goida, effective May 12, 2012; the immediate resignation of varsity girls softball coach James Gilbert; the retirement of high school Special education teacher Joan Kennedy, effective Dec. 23, 2011.The board also hired Sara Devitt as a full-time math teacher at the high school for 2011-2012, effective Sept. 26, at a salary of $34,685; hired Brenda Chasarik as part-time transportation clerk, effective Sept. 23, at $10.25 an hour; hired John Horvath as short-term substitute high school math teacher, retroactive to Aug. 29 and to continue to Sept. 22, 2011, at $135 per day; hired Lauren Schock-Wall as short-term substitute elementary teacher, retroactive to Aug. 29 and to continue to Oct. 3, 2011, at $135 per day; hired Janet Branchide as short-term substitute middle school technology education teacher, retroactive to Sept. 6 and to continue to a date yet to be determined, at $135 per day.The board approved a list of substitute teachers for the 2011-2012 school years at a rate of $85 per day: Adrian Bumbulsky, Tamaqua, for elementary K-6; Jared Smith, Jim Thorpe, for secondary social studies; Veronica Ricigliano, Weatherly, for elementary Special Education/early childhood; and Lindsey Veron, Jim Thorpe, for elementary K-6.The board also approved adding Sherry Hyland to the list of bus monitors, Lisa Macalush to the list of substitute custodians and Jacqueline Nalesnik to the list of substitute cafeteria workers.
