The Jim Thorpe Area School Board discussed and voted on personnel and policy issues at Monday evening's meeting.
The board voted unanimously to renew Superintendent Barbara Conway's contract. Conway's contract was renewed for another three years ending in 2015.
"I want to thank the board for your vote of confidence," stated Conway.
The board also discussed graduation policy.
The board was presented with a sample of another school district's graduation policy. The sample policy states that 11th grade students must score either proficient or advanced in the PSSA exams in order to graduate.
For now the school is just looking into this policy and doing research. The board will continue with further discussion and a presentation will be made on the research and ideas.
Conway stated that there needs to be accountability on the part of the students.
High School Principal, Thomas Lesisko, agreed with Conway and felt some students don't take the exam seriously.
"Our hope is for students to take it more seriously," stated Board member Randall Smith.
