Lehighton police issue warning

Lehighton police have issued a warning for businesses and residents about a borough ordinance that prohibits signs being posted or hanging "upon utility poles, light posts or sign posts owned by the borough or any other public utility or entity, any sign, banner, poster, etc., regardless of the method of attachment."

Police said they will issue a citation for each violation of the ordinance which carries a fine of $25 and costs.Each violation on each pole or post shall be considered a separate offense, police said.Further, each day that a violation of the ordinance continues shall constitute a separate offense, police added.More information on this and other ordinances can be found on the borough's website at
