Possible Lansford shooting incident probed

Lansford police are investigating a shooting incident in or near the three hundred block of West Kline Avenue late Monday night. Neighbors in the immediate area started to report hearing four rapid gun shots and seeing two males running from the scene at 9:30 p.m. One was reported as being white and the second black, both wearing hoodies. Lansford police were assisted at the scene by police officers from Coaldale, Summit Hill and Nesquehoning and a state trooper. Police scoured the area looking for bullet casings and any damage to either homes or vehicles on the street. The scene is near the intersection with Cortright street. Police Chief John Turcmanovich early Tuesday said police couldn't find anything Monday night that indicated a shooting. "It could have possibly been firecrackers," he said. Turcmanovich said police would head back out to the scene today to further investigate.
