Woman facing several charges

A Palmerton woman is facing several charges related to accessing another woman's computer network account.

Nesquehoning Police Chief Sean Smith has charged Amanda L. Hunsicker, 23, of 414 Delaware Ave., Apt. B, with one count each of computer trespass, disruption of service, computer theft, unlawful duplication and harassment. All counts are felony threes, except the harassment charge, which is a misdemeanor three.According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Jan. 31 Smith received a complaint from Tammy Koncz, of Nesquehoning, that herself and her daughter, Jessica Lynn Ross, 22, of Newport News, Va., had an argument with Amanda and Debbie Hunsicker, who at the time where friends. The argument occurred among the four on Facebook in the early evening hours of Jan. 29.After the argument ended Koncz said she received an email from her daughters' account 45 minutes later but did not open it until the next day. She said when she opened the email she discovered a message, "I hope you're proud of me" and attached to the message were 14 nude pictures of her daughter. Koncz immediately contacted her daughter and was told by her that she did not send the photos to her mother.Smith then interviewed Ross who told him she attempted to get on her Yahoo account but an unknown person had changed her password. Ross told Smith she suspected that either Amanda or Debbie Hunsicker had accessed her account and sent the photos. She told Smith she previously gave Amanda Hunsicker her Yahoo account password about five months earlier to check on something for her, but never gave her permisison to access her account or send the photos to her mother. Ross said she changed the password on Jan. 30 but on Jan. 31 there was a fake email which was not her email address and that she attempted to go into her account but was locked out again by an unknown person.Smith said he contacted state police at Hazleton computer crime unit and Trooper James Sotak was able to trace the computer entries. Smith then obtained a search warrant and served it on PenTeleData, the email supplier, to identify the owner of the account which Sotak had traced. The account was identified as that of Daniel Hunsicker of 515 Delaware Ave.On Feb. 16 Smith executed a search warrant at the Hunsicker residence and seized Amanda Hunsicker's computer tower. Smith said when confronted, Amanda Hunsicker admitted she unlawfully accessed the email account of Ross and sent the photos of Ross to her mother, Koncz in Nesquehoning.
