The engagement of Carla M. Baran of Frederick, Md., to Joseph R. Pacitti, also of Frederick, has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Gregg and Cleo Baran of Tamaqua.She is a 2004 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, and a 2008 graduate of Elizabethtown College, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in English education. She is currently pursuing a masters in American studies at Pennsylvania State University.She is employed as an English teacher at Washington County Technical High School in Hagerstown, Md.The prospective bridegroom is the son of Joseph M. Pacitti and Christine Pacitti (stepmother) and the late Patricia Ann Pacitti of Barto, Pa.He is a 2004 graduate of Emmaus High School and a 2008 graduate of Temple University, where he earned a bachelor of arts in English, and a minor in Italian.He is currently pursuing a master's degree in education at Millersville University.He is employed as an English teacher at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts in Hagerstown.A wedding is being planned for July of 2011.
