Schuylkill crashes are investigated

State police at the Frackville barracks had a busy day on Monday investigating three crashes on Schuylkill County roadways. No serious injuries were reported in any of them.

A two-vehicle crash was reported at 10:06 a.m. along Route 209 in the village of Cumbola, Blythe Township.Troopers said Zachary Reynolds, 19, of Branchdale was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer southbound at a high rate of speed.Troopers noted the road was wet at the time. Reynolds was negotiating a left curve when he lost control with his vehicle spinning counterclockwise. The Lancer then entered the oncoming lane with the driver's side front of the Lancer striking the driver's side of a Honda Odyssey operated by Michael Chismar, 49, of Phillipsburg, New Jersey. After impact the Odyssey was forced off the road and struck a parked 2001 Toyota Corolla. After impact the Lancer continued south and came to rest on an embankment.Damages were disabling to the Lancer and Odyssey and minor to the Corolla. Chismar sustained a minor left arm injury but did not require immediate attention. Reynolds was not injured.Troopers said Reynolds was issued citations for the crash. The second crash occurred at 2:07 p.m. along Route 901 in Cass Township. Troopers said Danelle N. Avellino, 22, of Marion Heights, Northumberland County, was driving a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup when her dog was leaping on and off her lap causing her to become distracted. She lost control of the Dakota, making a sudden swerve to the left causing it to roll over onto its right side into the oncoming lane. The Dakota slid across the oncoming lane on its right side, impacting with guide rail along the east shoulder. Avellino was not injured but the Dakota was towed from the scene.Troopers cited Avellino for the crash.A one-vehicle crash was reported at 2:35 p.m. along Route 61, a mile south of Schuylkill Mall Road in Blythe Township. Troopers said Jarrod Keely, 30, of Pottsville, was driving a 1983 Ford F150 pickup northbound and claimed he lost control of his vehicle due to wet roads. The truck started to spin clockwise and the rear-end exited the road on the left berm and entered a steep embankment on an angle. The momentum caused the truck to overturn and come to rest on its roof, blocking the left lane of travel.Keely and passengers Stephen Messner, 62, and John Barry Reed Jr., 27, both of Pottsville, all sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention.Troopers said Reed was placed under arrest for an active warrant for receiving stolen property issued to state police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks.Damages were termed heavy to the truck, which was towed from the scene.
