Steve Tomplin of Milton, Pa. was the overall winner of the 39th Annual Switch-Back Scamper 10 K Race and 5 K Walk, held Sunday, Oct. 18.

The Scamper begins behind St. Joseph's Church in Summit Hill and commences down the Switch-Back Trail to Jim Thorpe, where it concludes at Mauch Chunk Lake Park.Tomplin's winning time was 36 minutes, 57 seconds. Placing second was Jeff Crahalla of Drums, Pa., who is a previous winner of the Scamper, with a time of 38:25. Marian High School cross country coach Jeremy Dormer placed third.Rebecca Redline of Breinigsville was the women's winner in 45:07.The top overall 5 K walker was Jim Pugliese of Hazleton in 32:37.There were 46 runners and 12 walkers in this year's race.Proceeds from the race benefit the St. John Lutheran Church Restoration Fund.Switch-Back Scamper 10 KOverallMale1.
