The Tamaqua Senior High School marketing class marketed and organized a humungous food drive campaign that raised over 2,800 food donations to benefit the Tamaqua Salvation Army's food baskets for the holidays. The marketing class students organized two local food drive events; as well as talked on the radio, appeared on local TV, and submitted news releases to newspapers to promote their food drive campaign.

Their first food drive the marketing class students organized as part of the multi-stage campaign was the "White Out For Hunger" school campaign in which students and teachers were allowed to wear white shirts for a day when they brought in food donations. Their "White Out For Hunger" school campaign brought in over 1,450 food donations.

The marketing class's second food drive was done by accepting food donations instead of charging admission to enter the Tamaqua-Marian football game Friday night. The Senior High School student advisory board also helped with this drive. Over 1,300 cans were collected during the Tamaqua-Marian football game.

The "two event" grand total in food donations exceeded 2,800 food donations. Representatives for the Tamaqua Salvation Army were also at the Tamaqua-Marian game assisting with loading and collecting donations.

Ann Lagowy, marketing class teacher also said the students will help the Tamaqua Salvation Army sort and organize the donations as well as help distribute them during the holidays.
