Printing error cited in E. Penn ballot

Carbon County election officials will hand count ballots for an uncontested East Penn Township supervisor race on Tuesday following a printer error.

East Penn has two incumbent candidates, John Strockoz, a Republican, and Dennis Pearson, a Democrat, running unopposed to retain their seats on the board, however the general election ballot instructs voters to “vote for 1,” when it should read, “vote for 2.”

“When we did the proclamation, it said vote for two, but when the ballots came out, it said vote for one,” Jennifer Ketchledge, Carbon director of elections and voter registration, said. “It was an error at the printing level.”

Ketchledge said the ballots will not be reprinted, but voters will be told Tuesday they can vote for both Strockoz and Pearson.

“There will be signs up letting people know that,” she said.
