A Schuylkill County man has been charged with simple assault following an incident that occurred about 11:25 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25.

State police at Frackville said the incident occurred at 102 Jerry's Road, in Union Township.

At that location Raymond Benjamin Miller, 43, of Ringtown, and Lynne Gay Brittion, 46, of Barnesville, were engaged in an argument during which he allegedly struck her in the mouth causing a cut to her mouth.

Miller was taken into custody and charged.

State police at Lehighton are investigating a vehicle set on fire incident.

Troopers said the 1983 Chevrolet Camaro of Amanda Lee Pensyl, 22, of 8962 W. Robinhood Drive, Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County, was found by the victim on fire about 10:10 p.m. on Jan. 23. The vehicle sustained serious damages, troopers said. The investigation into the incident is continuing.

An incident along Interstate 81 in Frailey Township, Schuylkill County, led to the arrest and jailing of an out-of-state driver.

State police at Frackville said the incident occurred about 5:28 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, when patrol units came upon what appeared to be two disabled vehicles northbound. At the time of the incident the roadways were snow covered due to a storm.

State police at Frackville are investigating a criminal mischief incident that occurred in Kline Township, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said Ashley Hix, of Lansford, parked her 2012 Mazdaspeed3 sedan well off SR309 south, just north of Lofty Road, about 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25. Sometime overnight the left front window was shattered by some type of projectile. The damage was discovered about 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.

State police at Schuylkill Haven were kept very busy over the past weekend with numerous crashes reported on Schuylkill County roads.

A three-vehicle crash occurred about 3:54 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, along SR61 in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Emily E. Wagner, 20, of Orwigsburg, was southbound driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla, when she lost control while negotiating a right curve. The car slid across the median and impacted with a 2011 GMC Yukon driven by Charles F. Vincent, 46, of Orwigsburg, who was northbound.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an attempted retail theft incident that occurred at a Schuylkill County department store.

The incident occurred about 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Kohl's Department Store in the Fairlane Village Mall, in Norwegian Township.

Troopers said a group of five individuals entered the store and walked to the small appliance section. One of the individuals took the security rap off an eight-inch Polaroid Internet tablet and seven-inch Polaroid Internet tablet, which are valued at $379.

State police at Lehighton reported on a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 1:45 p.m. on Jan. 20 along Forest Inn Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Tyler J. Koch, 18, of Palmerton, was driving a 2004 Ford 550XL southbound when he lost control while attempting to negotiate a left curve. The vehicle traveled onto the east berm and struck a guide rail with its front left side. It then struck a utility pole where it came to rest.

A woman is facing a charge of retail theft following an incident that occurred about 12:35 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Country Junction, located at 6565 Interchange Road (SR209), in Towamensing Township, Carbon County.

State police at Lehighton said Lori Ann Christman, 31, of Saylorsburg, allegedly attempted to conceal numerous items and remove them from the store without paying for them.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a burglary at a Schuylkill County business.

Troopers said the Hawk Mountain General Store/Valerio Service Station, located 16 Summer Valley Road, in West Brunswick Township, was entered about 2:04 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26.

Entry was gained by forcing open the front door. Once inside the criminals removed several packs of cigarettes and a small amount of cash from behind the counter.

Summit Hill Chief of Police Joseph Fittos Jr. said a car was reportedly stolen from a garage in the borough.

Two rifles reportedly were in the car.

The theft occurred at about 4:15 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle is a 2011 Chevy Silverado.

Fittos said the owner had the garage unlocked and the key was in the car.

According to Fittos, the car might possibly have been involved in a hit-and-run accident after being taken.
