Coaldale police have charged a Tamaqua man with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, and driving on roadways zoned for traffic.

James Wilson Freiling, 32, of 323 W. Broad St., who was charged Oct. 14 by Officer Joseph Krebs, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.113 percent. The threshold for drunken driving is 0.08 percent.

Darcie N. Roeder, 56, of Schuylkill Haven, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 2:49 p.m. Dec. 29 on SR183 in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said she was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville, by the Orwigsburg Community EMS. The severity of her injuries is unknown, police said.

A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges following a vehicle stop, and chase. State police at Frackville said the incident began about 8:51 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31.

According to troopers a vehicle stop was made in the area of SR209 at Water St., in New Philadelphia. The driver was identified as a Michael John Setlock Jr., 39, of Middleport. While troopers were attempting to identify him Setlock fled in his vehicle. A one mile chase ensued with Setlock's vehicle getting struck in the snow.

A 15-year-old Tamaqua male had a juvenile petition filed against him after he allegedly used a vehicle without the owners' permission.

The incident was reported to borough police on Dec. 23 by Randy Schock, 436 Hazle St. Schock told officers the teen had taken his vehicle without authorization.

The teen also faces charges of driving without a license.

Two persons were injured in a crash at 3:57 p.m. Dec. 30 at the intersection of SR209 and Washington Street in Middleport, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Mary J. Kristoff, 69, of Middleport, and Mark E. Pelton, 36, of Bethlehem, sustained injuries of unknown severity. Kristoff was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville, by the Pottsville EMS, while Pelton was taken to the St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale..

A Tamaqua woman escaped serious injury when her vehicle went over an embankment Christmas Eve.

Samantha Richardson was traveling north on Market Street, approaching Elm Street, when she was unable to bring her vehicle to a stop. The car slid sideways and went over an embankment.

Road surfaces were snow covered and slippery at the time of the 7 p.m. incident, according to the police report.

A Rush Township woman was cited by Tamaqua police on Dec. 21 following an incident at the Family Dollar Store, 137 N. Railroad St.

Lacy Pajakinas, 22, of 20 Ben Titus Rd., was cited for retail theft after store personnel allegedly observed her shoplifting items valued at $12.

Two South Carolina residents escaped injury in a weather-related crash at 5:57 p.m. Dec. 30 on Interstate 81 in Kline Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at the Frackville said William J. Murtagh, 54, the driver of the vehicle, and Renee Murtagh, 53, his passenger, were unhurt in the crash.

No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:20 p.m. Dec. 29 on Interstate 78 in Salisbury Township, Lehigh County.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks said James R. Anderson, 57, Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2007 Honda Fit westbound when it was struck from behind by another westbound vehicle, a 2009 Toyota Corolla operated by Anya K. Mertz, 23, of Kutztown. Police said the Honda rotated clockwise and struck the concrete barrier on the north shoulder of the roadway with its left front bumper.

Police said Mertz will be cited for following too closely.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an accident that took place at 12:07 Friday on SR61 in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.

Police reported that the accident occurred when Martin Stine, 59, of Schuylkill Haven, driving a tractor trailer, was traveling south in the right lane as Adam Faust, of Orwigsburg, driving a Ford Explorer, was attempting to turn left out of the 3C's Restaurant.
