Amber Lynn Casserly, daughter of Scott Casserly and Karen Lorady, of Barnesville, was named to the dean's list at Bloomsburg University for the spring of 2015 semester, with a 3.9 grade-point average.

She is a senior majoring in early childhood education.

Katarina Zurawa of Jim Thorpe, has been named to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Academy of Culinary Arts dean's recognition list for academic excellence for the spring 2015 semester.

She also achieved perfect attendance and is a member of the ice carving club.

The academy, located in Punxsutawney, is fully accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission and has been designated an exemplary program.

Susan Schneeberger-Klotz of Jim Thorpe, Registered Dental Hygienist and Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner, gradated from Cedar Crest College on May 16.

She received her master's degree in the art of education and attained a 3.97 GPA.

While at Cedar Crest College, Susan was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society for educators and employed as the graduate assistant to the education department. Her thesis focused on health care providers and children's dental health. Susan is married to Dean C. Klotz and has two children, Alexandria and Elizabeth.

Nicholas Frey, a 2014 Palmerton High School graduate, was placed on the dean's list for the fall and spring semesters at Alvernia University, Reading, with a 3.77 GPA.

He is majoring in Sports Management at Alvernia. He is a member of the Sports Management Association. Nick is also employed by their Intramural Athletic Board.

He is the son of Robert and Lisa Frey of Kunkletown and the grandson of Richard and Barbara Frey of Palmerton.

Alexandra Stroia, a senior student at Marian Catholic High School, Hometown, has been notified of her acceptance to the Early Admission Program at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. This early acceptance guarantees her a seat at the medical school once she finishes undergraduate studies at an affiliated undergraduate college. In Stroia's case, she has selected Alvernia University as her choice for undergraduate studies. Her acceptance at the Reading based university has also been confirmed.

Taylor Nicole Troyanoski, daughter of Sandy Walters of Weatherly and William Troyanoski of California, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at LaSalle University in Philadelphia with a 3.93 grade point average.

She is majoring in psychology.

Misericordia University, Dallas, recently recognized the academic accomplishments of students who completed the University Honors Program by awarding them each a gold stole and keychain at the institution's annual Honors and Awards Ceremony at Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall.

Students who received a gold stole to wear at the 89th annual Commencement ceremony, which was held May 16 included Molly Harleman of Lehighton.

Misericordia University recently presented Deborah Keys of Jim Thorpe with the Service-Learning Leadership Award at the annual Honors and Awards Ceremony in Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall on campus.

Kevin Feifer, director of service-learning, made the presentation.

The award is given to a student who is nominated by a faculty member for his or her community-based work that was initiated in a service-learning course and who also shows evidence of active community service and the potential for continued service in a leadership role.

Lauren Christ, a sophomore at West Chester University, has been notified of her placement on the dean's list for the spring semester with a 3.9 GPA.

She is a communications studies major with a minor in geography and planning.

She is the current president of the English Club and treasurer of the Creative Writing Club.
