Megan Marie Lazicki, daughter of Andrea and Steven Lazicki of Kresgeville, graduated cum laude on May 18 from Bloomsburg University with a bachelor of science degree in education.

Lazicki was actively involved while at Bloomsburg as an orientation workshop leader (OWL), CGA representative, cheerleader, member of Phi Iota Chi sorority and a member of Future Educators of America.

She finished out the school year as a substitute teacher in the Pleasant Valley School District.

She is a 2009 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School.

Patrick Martino

Patrick Martino of Jim Thorpe has graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Misericordia University. He also obtained a secondary education certification and mathematics minor while maintaining a 3.94 GPA.

Charles A. Hansler, son of Charles and Karen Hansler of Andreas, graduated cum laude from Temple University with a bachelor's degree, with distinction, in Political Science and History. He earned a 3.8 grade point average, placing him in the top 15 percent of his class. The 2009 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honors Society, Phi Alpha Theta National History Honors Society and the Golden Key Honors Society.

Chloe Elizabeth Wirth, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hilbert Haas of Lehighton, was recently presented an award for the highest reader out of the seventh- and eighth-grade students at the Williamson Jr. Sr. High School in Tioga, Pa.

Chloe was awarded the "Most Magnificent Middle School Reader" award for reading 5,580,591 words during the school year. Williamson Jr. Sr. High School does the AR (accelerated reading) program. Chloe will enter the eighth grade in the fall at Williams School.

Chloe is the daughter of Roger and Susan (Haas) Wirth of Tioga, Pa.

Courtney Lazar, daughter of Mark and Helene Lazar of Summit Hill, had been named to the dean's list at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Pa.

Her six-year program is in pharmacy.

Courtney is a 2012 graduate of Panther Valley High School where she was named president of the National Honor Society, valedictorian of her class, battalion commander of the J.R.O.T.C. program for two years and was a member of the Panther Valley band for seven years.

Laura Cinicola of West Penn Township has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Lycoming College in Williamsport. She is a photography and commercial design major.

She is a member of the women's volleyball team were she been named to the MAC academic honor roll for her freshman and sophomore years.

She is also a member of the Kappa Pi art fraternity at Lycoming.

Laura is the daughter of Fred and Terrie Cinicola of Andreas and the granddaughter of Clete and Irene Milan of Jim Thorpe and Anna Cinicola, formerly of Summit Hill.

Nycole Everett of Germansville has received the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic Student-Athlete Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement.

She is majoring in veterinary technician at LCCC and participates in women's basketball.

To earn this award, students must earn a 3.60-3.79 GPA on a 4.00 scale. Everett obtained a 3.63 GPA.

Air Force Airman Tanner O. Eckhart has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Eckhart is the son of Daphne and Kerry Eckhart of Lehighton.

Litsch, daughter of George and Diane Litsch of Tamaqua and granddaughter of Marian LaBella of Tamaqua and Sadie Litsch of Mahanoy City, recently graduated magna cum laude from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, with a bachelor of the arts degree in English. She also completed a minor in art history and obtained her Pennsylvania Secondary English Certification for teaching.

Brad Hosler, son of Bud and Deb Hosler of the Tamaqua area, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at the Pennsylvania College of Technology.

A 2012 graduate of Tamaqua Area high School, he earned a 4.0 grade point average. He is majoring in automotive technology.
