Revenue from deeds

Carbon County Recorder of Deeds Emmett P. McCall reported his office recorded 220 deeds, 138 mortgages and 288 other writs during the month of January.

As a result of those transactions, McCall turned over to the Carbon County General Fund the sum of $23,470.34.

A breakdown of that revenue includes: transfer fees, $18,746; data processing fees, $1,606.09; notaries, $30; commission on transfers and writs, $2,254.85; and Affordable Housing administrative fee, $833.40.

Sues over crash

A two-count complaint involving a motor vehicle crash is seeking damages in excess of $100,000, plus attorney’s fees, costs and expenditures, delay damages and interest.

Larry and Jane Strohl, husband and wife, of 1975 Forrest Inn Road, Palmerton, are seeking a jury trial to decide a case against Kaycie Reabold, 300 S. Seventh St., Lehighton.

The complaint alleges Reabold was driving a vehicle on Feb. 6, 2014, at 3:55 p.m. that rear-ended a stopped vehicle operated by Larry Strohl while the vehicles were traveling on Route 209 in Towamensing Township.
