PVEN needs

Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network is asking the community for donations of holiday foods, like hams and turkeys, gravy, stuffing mixes, cranberry sauce, pie filling and muffin mixes.

The clothing department needs sheets, towels and blankets.

PVEN will gladly accept any gift cards from Weis or ShopRite to help purchase holiday meats.

Any of these items can be dropped off at St. Matthew's UCC during office hours of Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and Sundays, 8-11:30 a.m.

Altar & Rosary

The Altar & Rosary Society of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will have its monthly meeting today at 6 p.m. in the Café at Our Lady Queen of Peace. Details of the upcoming craft fair on Nov. 29 and other projects will be presented.

The Western Pocono Lions Club will hold its monthly dinner meeting tonight at The Old Mill Pizza on Route 209 in Sciota. The social hour begins at 6:30 p.m. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Project One Step

Members of St. Matthew's UCC will be participating in Project One Step's benefit concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stroudsburg Area High School auditorium. They will be performing "Images of Adoration," written and directed by Pepper Choplin.

Exercising seniors

There is a low-impact exercise class for those over 55 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company.

Donations needed

St. Matthew's UCC is looking for donations of Chinese auction items and homemade baked goods for its annual fall bazaar on Nov. 8 at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company.

If you have any Chinese auction items to be donated, bring them to the church during office hours of Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. or Sunday from 8-11:30 a.m.

If you have baked items for the Bake Sale, bring those Nov. 7 or first thing Saturday morning at the firehouse.

Genealogy topic

The West End Rotary Club will host Jeffrey Wright as speaker at its breakfast meeting Thursday. He will speak on the topic of genealogy.

The club meets at 7:30 a.m. at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.

The Pleasant Valley Elementary School will hold Planet Learn Kindergarten Night from 5:30 to 7 Thursday.

On Friday PVE and PV Intermediate will celebrate Fall Celebrations Black and White Day.

Laymen's Fellowship

The Laymen's Fellowship of St. Matthew's UCC will be holding its Annual Bazaar on Nov. 8 at the Kunkletown Firehouse.

They are in need of donations for the basket auction and raffle items and baked goods for the bake sale. Basket donations can be dropped off at the church during office hours, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The baked items should be dropped off at the firehouse Nov. 7 or early Saturday morning, Nov. 8.
