Venison dinner

The annual community venison dinner, with all the trimmings, will be held Saturday, April 6, at Christ United Church of Christ, 4th and Center streets. The meal will begin at 5 p.m. There is no charge, however, donations will be accepted.

The Jim Thorpe Democratic Association will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room of the Inn at Jim Thorpe.

President Edith Lukasevich will be in charge of the session.

Church gatherings

Wednesday sessions

St. Mark's/St. John's Episcopal Church will hold its second "Soup and Session" meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Great Hall. The meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. and all are welcome. The topic follows the events of Holy Week through and including the crucifixion and descent.

Women's Bible Study

The Women's Bible study classes at St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, have been changed to Thursday evenings, due to the Lenten gatherings. The classes will now be held on March 7 and 21. They are studying the book of Acts. Joan DeAcetis is the leader.

Author at Dimmick Friends House

Mark Thornton will be signing copies of his latest novel "Bridesmen of Madison County" from Beau to Beau Books, as well as his second volume of "Twisted Tales of an Otherwise Ordinary Mind" at the Dimmick Friends Book Sale on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
