Mr. and Mrs. Glenmore L. Dotter

Mr. and Mrs. Glenmore L. Dotter of Penn Forest Township will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in January.

They recognized the occasion with a gathering last month for family and friends at Whispering Pines Banquet Hall at Penn Forest Fire Company No. 1.

They were married Jan. 16, 1965, by the Rev. Francis Adolf at St. Joseph Church in Jim Thorpe.

Mrs. Dotter is the former Ellen M. Herman, daughter of the late Helen Kochmar Herman and Leonard Herman of Jim Thorpe.

Her husband is the son of the late Clara Meckes Dotter and Mal Dotter of Jim Thorpe.

William Swenson Jr. and Jennel Yelito

William Swenson Jr. and Jennel Yelito, together with their families, have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of David Yelito of Coaldale and Diane and Terry Miller of Nesquehoning. A graduate of Moravian College, she holds two master's degrees in education from Wilkes University.

She is employed by the Tamaqua Area School District, as a sixth-grade reading teacher and as head girls tennis coach.

Her fiance is the son of Maria and William Swenson of East Stroudsburg. He graduated from DeSales University with a degree in business management.

Joseph and Carol (Knepper) Colecio of Tresckow recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Nov. 7, 1964.

The Colecios have one daughter, Roseann (Colecio) Gabos, and her husband, Calvin, of Beaver Meadows; and one son, Anthony Colecio, and his wife, Jennifer, of Weatherly.

They also have four grandchildren, Santino Gabos, and Amanda, Alexis and Antonio Colecio.

In September they traveled to the West Coast in celebration of their golden anniversary.

On Nov. 1 they were honored at a dinner celebration with their family.

Lois Holman

Lois Evelyn (Sands) Holman, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior community in Weatherly, is celebrating her 101st birthday on Nov. 1.

Born in Hazleton in 1913, Lois was married to Allan Williams for 47 years until his passing in 1979, and to David Holman Sr. for 10 years until his passing in 2000.

Lois is a member of the Hazleton Chapter of the American Red Cross and received recognition for more than 50 years of service. She was instrumental in starting the Red Cross Bloodmobile in Weatherly and was also a volunteer worker in the Hazleton Red Cross office during World War II.

Martin Hutira

Martin Hutira, Locust Valley, Barnesville recently celebrated his 94th birthday.

He was born Oct. 23,1920, at the homestead in Locust Valley to John Hutira and Anna Sako Hutira, both originally from Czechoslovakia. He had one older sister, Sue Dougherty, and two older brothers, John and Steve, all deceased. He has one younger brother, Paul Hutira of Orwigsburg, who also just celebrated his 92nd birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Smith

Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Smith of Lehighton are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Oct. 31, 1964, at First United Church of Christ in Palmerton.

Mrs. Smith is the daughter of the late George and Virginia Stocker of Lehighton. Her husband is the son of the late George and Louise Smith, also of Lehighton.

The celebrants have two children, Jeff, and his wife, Shelly, of Lehighton, and Jason, and his wife, Tina, of Jim Thorpe.

They have two grandchildren, Nathan Smith and Jena Smith, both of Lehighton.

William "Bill"  Fillingham

William "Bill" Fillingham of Parryville celebrated his 90th birthday on Oct. 21. He was born in Geneva, New York. He served in the United States Army in the China Burma India Theater during World War II as an MP.

After the service, he decided he would like to live in the Allentown area. He got a job at Western Electric, where he met his wife, the former Florence Shoenberger. They were married almost 59 years before her death in December of 2007.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Vegetabile

Elizabeth Jane Rodriguez, daughter of Juan and Valerie Rodriguez of Kunkletown, and Paul Lorenzo Vegetabile, son of John and Susan Vegetabile, also of Kunkletown, were united in marriage on April 12, 2014, at the Middlecreek Christian Church in Kresgeville.

The Rev. Steven Boothe, pastor, officiated the double ring ceremony. Ruth Ann Harvey was the pianist and Emily Alvin was the vocalist.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose her sister, Angela Rodriguez of Kunkletown, to be her maid of honor.
