The 50th anniversary reunion of the Tamaqua Area High School Class of 1964, was held Sept. 7 at Capriotti's in McAdoo.

The invocation was offered by the Rev. Robert Smith. Master of ceremonies Theodore Hafer welcomed the 84 classmates and guests present. The class toast was given by Richard Arculin and the Rev. Franklin Schock offered the benediction.

The Lehighton High School Class of 1965 will meet on Wednesday to plan for the 50th anniversary reunion.

The breakfast meeting will be held at 9 a.m. at 443 Beacon Restaurant, Blakeslee Boulevard, Lehighton. All class members are welcome to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. Wallace H. Berger

Mr. and Mrs. Wallace H. Berger of Lehighton recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Aug. 29, 1964, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Jim Thorpe by the Rev. William J. Leifeld.

Mrs. Berger is the former Patricia Bretz, daughter of the late Jacob and Frances Bretz of Jim Thorpe. Her husband is the son of Pauline (Berger) Leindecker of Slatington and the late Wallace H. Berger Sr.

The Bergers have two daughters: Lori Nuss and her husband, Rico, of Hazleton; and Tami Breault and her husband, Herv, of Auburn.

Mr. and Mrs. Lamont LeVan

Mr. and Mrs. Lamont LeVan of Lehighton are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Sept. 5, 1964, at Jacob's Reform Church in Weissport by the Rev. George Bickel.

Mrs. LeVan is the former Mary Lou Hinger, daughter of the late Alvin and Anna Hinger of Lehighton. Her husband is the son of the late Wilbur and Beulah LeVan of Lehighton.

They have two children: Lamont LeVan Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Lehighton; and Christine Lorchak, and her husband, David, of Lehighton.

They have one granddaughter, Kirsten LeVan.

The time to make your reservations for the fourth One-Room Elementary School Reunion in Franklin Township has been extended.

The reunion will be held Sept. 27 at the Franklin Township Fire Company.

Mr. and Mrs. James Wentz

Mr. and Mrs. James Wentz of Lehighton are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

They were married in Zion United Church of Christ on Aug. 28, 1954, by the Rev. Alton Leister.

Mrs. Wentz is the former Shirley Hill, daughter of the late Robert and Geraldine Clay Hill of Lehighton. Mr. Wentz is the son of the late William and Beatrice Shellhammer Wentz of Parryville.

They have four children: Garry, Gregory and Scott, who is married to Patricia, all of Parryville, and Sherryl Armbruster of Lehighton.

They have six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The parents of Sarah E. Welsh of Hoboken, New Jersey, and Joshua R. Donohue of Jersey City, New Jersey, have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Janet V. and David S. Welsh of Lansdale. A graduate of North Penn High School and Susquehanna University, she is employed as the regional educational executive at L'Oreal in New York City.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mary Ellen Donohue of Lake Hauto and the late Ricky H. Donohue, and the grandson of Beryl and Charles "Brum" Donohue of Tamaqua.
