The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Jessica and the late Thomas Brown, Sr. of White Haven and the late Leo and Agnes McArdle of Summit Hill.

Michele Lynn Zanders of Lehighton and Richard James Brown of Effort have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Michael and Kathy Zanders of Lehighton. She is a 2007 graduate of Lehighton Area High School.

She earned an associate degree in business management from Lehigh Carbon Community College.

She is currently employed by First Northern Bank & Trust in Egypt, Pa.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Rich and Karen Brown of Effort.

Heather Lynn Fenstermacher, daughter of Richard and Kathleen Fenstermacher of Tamaqua was united in marriage to Sean Mathew Wargo, son of Mimi Ickes of St. Augustine, Fla; and Leslie Wargo of Tamaqua on Sept. 13, 2013 at Capriotti's in McAdoo.

Pastor James Greaser officiated the outdoor double ring ceremony.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride chose Allison (Mundy) Lopata of Northampton as her matron of honor and Dana Pienta of Pottstown as her maid of honor.

Genevieve Skavery

Genevieve Skavery, a resident of Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, recently celebrated her 96th birthday. She was born on Jan. 26, 1918 to Stanley and Victoria Swatski of Mt. Carmel.

Genevieve and her husband Stanley, who worked as a coal miner, were married on June 17, 1939 at St. Stanislaus Church in Shenandoah.

The Rev. Michael Ahrensfield officiated the double ring ceremony. Jeana DePuy, Lansford, was the organist.

Steve and Mary Kruzik, Lansford, were the vocalists.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose Lindsay Golightley to be her maid of honor.

Bridesmaids included Melissa Wright, Chrissy Carver and Melissa Truszkowski.

Deanna McIveen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Graham McIveen of Tamworth, Australia, became the bride of Francis James Maurer, son of John and Nina Maurer of Nesquehoning on Sept. 27, 2013 at sunset on Wakiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose Sandy Eade of Australia to be her maid of honor.

The bridegroom's brother, John Robert Maurer, performed the duties of best man.

Following the service a reception was held at the Orchid Restaurant in Honolulu.

The couple honeymooned in Hawaii.
