The Lupus Foundation of Pennsylvania, Pocono/Northeast Branch will hold a free Winter Wellness Conference Call Series beginning Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Patients with lupus and other autoimmune diseases are invited to call in to any one or all three sessions from their home or cell phone.

Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Boccella

Katie Moran, daughter of Christine Moran of Lake Hauto and the late Robert Moran, became the bride of Stephen Boccella, son of Sal and Kathleen Boccella of Horsham, on Nov. 12, 2011, at SS. Simon and Jude Church in Bethlehem. Monsignor John Mraz of Emmaus, pastor of St. Ann's Church, Emmaus, officiated the double ring ceremony.

The Gabriel Chamber Ensemble (GCE) and Gabriel Youth Orchestra (GYO) which recently performed a holiday program at the Tamaqua Salvation Army, are always ready to encourage local musical talent.

The GCE, which is now celebrating its 22nd season of chamber music performances, routinely entertains audiences in Schuylkill County with works by Widor, Ornstein, Strauss, Saint-Saens and about 120 other composers, compiling a shared repertoire of about 350 classical pieces.

Area book lovers have a new way to borrow books from their public library in Lehighton, Palmerton, Jim Thorpe, or Slatington. Library patrons can now borrow electronic books from the Carbon Lehigh Downloadable Library, an electronic consortium of 11 libraries in Carbon and Lehigh counties.

"I think the smaller libraries will benefit from this," said Palmerton Area Library director Diane Danielson. "All of the libraries, large or small, will benefit from the consortium."

Wearing a red-and-white Santa hat, a red shirt and sporting a white beard, David thor Staten-Mohr entertained patients and staff recently at Allentown Family Foot Care, South Whitehall Township.

Thor Staten-Mohr, who has lived in Lehighton since 1976, said he was invited to play his accordion at the podiatry office by Dr. Raymond A. Fritz.

"My wife Patricia met Dr. Fritz (as a patient) and through their talking, I got hooked in," he said.

"We get invited to Dr. Fritz's staff Christmas party every year. I play music prior to the disc jockey starting."

A son, Owen Michael Wasson, was born at 6:58 p.m. on Jan. 1, 2012 in Weiden Klinikum, Germany to Brittany and Michael Wasson Jr., who are currently stationed in Germany.

He weighed 9 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 21.5 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Denise Williams and Robert Costello of Palmerton.

Paternal grandparents are Diana and Michael Wasson of Albrightsville.

"The Spirit of Christmas in Song" (a concert of traditional Carpatho-Rusyn Christmas Carols) directed by Prof. Andrew Drozdik, will take place at St. John's Orthodox Church, 9 West Railroad St., Nesquehoning on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 3 p.m.

The concert is free with light refreshments to follow.

The engagement of Tammy K. Fritzinger of Hometown, to Jason N. Messerschmidt, also of Hometown, has been announced by their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Karen K. and Dennis L. Fritzinger Sr. of New Ringgold.

She is a 1998 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School. She is currently employed as an office assistant at Tire Pros Inc. in Tamaqua.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Barry L. and Cynthia A. Messerschmidt of Hometown.
