Carbon PASR (Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees) will host a special event for school retirees on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the Mahoning Valley Country Club. Registration is 9-9:30 a.m. followed by a breakfast buffet.

"All school retirees are encouraged to attend this informative session," said Vince Spisak, retirement planning committee chairman.

Mr. and Mrs. Scott Exner

Marci Andrew, daughter of Robert and Marilyn Andrew of Lehighton, and Scott Exner, son of Thomas and Christine Exner, also of Lehighton, were united in marriage on July 14, 2012 at Blue Mountain Ski Area in Palmerton. Pastor Adam D'Albero officiated the double ring ceremony.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose her sister, Lori Buck of Palmerton, to serve as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Sarah Gower, Bethlehem; Rebecca Exner, Lehighton; and Anja Friendy, Lehighton.

Joseph F. Stern and April L. Miller

The engagement of April L. Miller, Alburtis, to Joseph F. Stern, also of Alburtis, has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Barry and Nancy (Valitsky) Miller of Summit Hill. She is a 2002 graduate of Panther Valley High School and a 2008 graduate of Northampton Community College, where she earned an A.A.S. degree in dental hygiene.

She is employed as a dental hygienist at Deering Dental, LLC in Coopersburg.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bollinger Sr.

Marie and Lloyd Bollinger Sr. of Palmerton are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married on Aug. 22, 1942 at the Episcopal Church in Aquashicola by Rev. Adams.

Marie is the daughter of the late Arthur and Blanche Schaffer of Aquashicola. Lloyd Sr. is the son of the late Jonas and Annie (Eckhart) Bollinger of Little Gap.

Prior to their retirement, Lloyd Sr. was self-employed in his own construction/trucking business Bollinger Bros. Marie was employed for several years at the Palmerton Area High School as a member of the cafeteria staff.

The Lehighton Area High School Class of 1967 is having its 45-year class reunion on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Mahoning Valley Country Club, beginning with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m.

Reservations are due by Sept. 22.

The fourth Parryville School Reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Mahoning Valley Ambulance Association, 902 Mill Road, Lehighton. Doors open at 3 p.m.; dinner will be served at 5 p.m.

Mary Taschler

Mary Taschler of Palmerton recently celebrated her 85th birthday with a surprise birthday party Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Blue Ridge Country Club.

Born Aug. 11, 1927, Mary has lived her entire life in Palmerton, graduating from Palmerton High School and the Palmerton Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from a career as a registered nurse at Palmerton Hospital.

Mary is an active member of St. Vladimir's Greek Catholic Church and has served as a leader of the pierogi lady effort for many years.
