The H.D. Buehler Memorial Pool at Tamaqua Bungalow Park will reopen Sunday
The Tamaqua public works director has indicated that the H.D. Buehler Memorial Pool at Tamaqua Bungalow Park will reopen to the public Sunday, according to an update released Friday morning by Tamaqua Councilman Justin Startzel. The pool has been closed since Tuesday when a wave of destructive storms brought 4.1 inches of rain, inundating the recreation area and filling the park's two pools with an estimated 400,000 gallons of muddy water, stones and debris.
Tamaqua police have cited Drew Daniel LaBar, 26, of 45 N. Greenwood St., Tamaqua, after an incident on June 28. Officers were dispatched to that address at 4:17 a.m. to assist EMS personnel with a medical emergency. Inside, they found LaBar passed out on the kitchen floor. There was frozen food covering him and ambulance staff tending to him. When he opened his eyes, his pupils were constricted, his speech was slurred and he appeared to be confused. He denied using any drugs.

Fast start propels Anthracite
In tournament baseball, things don't always go the way you want them too. That team was Anthracite as it used a four-run second inning to help secure an 8-6 victory over Thorpe. The tale of the tape for Jim Thorpe in the District 18...
KAREN CIMMS/TIMES NEWS Author Richard Wright holds a copy of his new book, "Southside of Heaven."
Richard Wright believes that at some point in time, there will be another person whose face looks a lot like yours. In his case, he shared a womb with his doppelganger, a twin brother. But Wright believes there may still be someone out there, in either the past or the present, who shares his likeness. Wright has taken that theory, and applied it to his breakout novel, "Southside of Heaven," a historical romance that tells the story of a New York City cop who searches for his identity, and finds...
"Inside Out" is an animated look inside a preteen girl's brain, with individuals or creatures depicting five emotions: Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black) and Disgust (Mindy Kaling). The 11-year-old girl, Riley (Kaitlyn Dias), is going through a difficult time, much to the consternation of her parents (Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan) after the family moves from Minnesota to San Francisco. "Personality islands," the "control console," "...
