When Summit Hill police officer Todd R. Woodward pursued an armed, suicidal man into his house at around 4 a.m. Wednesday, he realized he had to make a life-or-death decision. Frederick C. A burglary at a Schuylkill County gun shop is being investigated. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the break-in occurred at Shakey’s Gun Shop, located at 202 E. Market St., Orwigsburg, at 2:22 a.m. Thursday. Troopers did not indicate if anything was taken. A photo of the suspect is available on the Orwigsburg Police Department Facebook page, troopers said. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 570-754-4600.

The Raiders topped Blue Mountain, 48-28, in a game that was supposed to be a test whether Tamaqua is as good as its record indicates. For the Raiders, the test was aced thanks to a superb team effort with underclassmen doing an incredible job. The win gives Tamaqua a 5-0 mark halfway through the season while BM drops to 1-4.
