The Carbon Career & Technical Institute Joint Operating Committee took the following actions at Thursday’s meeting:

• Unanimously approved Christopher Gallagher, instructional aide, van/bus driver, SHINE driver, and Kenneth Reiter, teacher, instructional aide to substitute, for the 2018-19 school year at the established rates.

• Unanimously agreed to accept the letter of resignation from Douglas Del Conte, welding instructor, effective Aug. 15.

• Approved the appointment of 45 people as extra help instructors in conjunction with the Monday/Thursday after-school program at $25 per hour on an as-needed/scheduled basis.

• Unanimously approved Dana Miller and Kevin Kuehner as adult education instructors on an as-needed basis, at a salary of $21-$23 per hour effective Oct. 1, 2018, through October 2019.

• Approved the appointment of Samantha Green, assistant HOSA adviser at a rate of $800.

• Approved the appointment of Thomas Bartholomew Jr., welding instructor, effective Oct. 1, at a step 1 salary per the current faculty contract. Bartholomew has more than 18 years of experience as a welder/fabricator for Saylorsburg Metal Works and holds an associate degree in computer networking and data communications from the Pennsylvania College of Technology. He was also approved for three additional days at his approved per diem rate to allow for transition time.
