Carbon County election results

There were only four other contested races on the county ballot - the Democratic nominations for U.S. Senate and Pennsylvania attorney general, and the Republican nominations for the 17th Congressional District and for Pennsylvania attorney general.

In the Senate race, county Democrats favored statewide winner Katie McGinty over two challengers, Joe Sestak and John Fetterman. McGinty garnered 3,102 votes locally, 46.15 percent, while Sestak was second with 2,549 (37.93 percent) and Fetterman finished third with a mere 784 votes (11.66 percent).The county Democrats sided with a neighbor, Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli, in the Pennsylvania attorney general's race, although Morganelli finished third statewide. He received 3,654 votes in the county, 55.98 percent, while the winner, Josh Shapiro, a Montgomery County commissioner, had 1,810 votes (27.73 percent) and Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala finished third with 1,049 votes (16.07 percent).Shapiro's November opponent, Republican John C. Rafferty Jr., a senator from Montgomery County, was a winner in the county GOP balloting. He received 3,560 votes, 57.01 percent, compared to Joe Peters' 2,659 votes, 42.58 percent.In the 17th Congressional District, the Republican nominee, Matt Connolly, was also a winner in Carbon, collecting 2,679 votes, 62.98 percent, compared to Glenn Geissinger's 1,561, 36.69 percent.Below are the Carbon County vote totals in each respective race:U.S. PresidentDemocrats: Bernie Sanders, 3,418; Hillary Clinton, 3,334; Rocky De La Fuente, 100.Republicans: Donald J.
