Police say West Penn shooting was attempted murder-suicide

The tranquil night air of a very quiet and sleeping community of West Penn township was shattered Saturday night by the sounds of screaming sirens and helicopters from above.

West Penn Township police are investigating a double shooting which involved a man and woman, which has now been determined to be an attempted murder-suicide.

Shortly after 10 p.m. police and emergency medical personnel raced to 687 Arrow Road where they found the pair. The Schuylkill County Land Parcel Locator lists the property owners as Michael A. and Brigitt K. Mindock.

The two victims were treated at the scene by members of the New Ringgold ambulance and two Lehighton paramedic units.

The pair were transported to a landing zone along Dairy Road just east of Route 309 established by the West Penn Fire Company #1. PennStar 5 transported one of the victims to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem and MedEvac transported a victim to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Trauma Center in Allentown.

The scene is located just west of Archery Club Road. West Penn Chief of Police Brian Johnson and forensic expert Sgt. Jason Lorah are investigating the incident.

Assisting in the call were Tamaqua and Rush township police.
