Carbon man admits selling drugs

A Carbon County man admitted selling cocaine and heroin from his rental apartment.

Michael Allen Richardson, 23, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty on Monday in the county court before Judge Joseph J. Matika to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.Richardson was arrested after members of a state police vice unit served a search warrant at 116 Bridge St., where he was renting an apartment. When troopers entered the property they found Richardson hiding in the crawl space of the apartment.The warrant was obtained after Richardson sold cocaine and heroin to a confidential informant. Found in the apartment was drugs and $1,000 in U.S. currency.Matika accepted the plea but deferred sentencing to Richardson could apply for placement in the state's Intermediate Punishment Program. The program runs for two years and includes about one year in jail, followed by time in an inpatient rehabilitation program and then time spent in a halfway house. It is run military style and if the person violates a condition he is expelled from the program and would face resentencing by the presiding judge.Matika also ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.Sells pillsBrenda Mae Sacramento, 62, of Lehighton, pleaded to 1 count of criminal use of a communication device.She was arrested by Mahoning Township police after she sold prescription pills (Percocet) to a confidential informant at her home at 364 N. East Alley on April 26.Sacramento said she sold the pills, which she had a prescription for, to the CI because the person told her she was in great pain and needed relief. She added she realized that what she did was wrong. It was noted she has no prior contacts with law enforcement.Matika told her, "I believe this is a one-time incident."He then placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to supply a DNA sample, render 50 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
