Safety measures increase

Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture inspectors are asking that biosecurity practices be implemented by anyone who owns or works with poultry, whether they are at a commercial farm or a hobby farm.

Examples of biosecurity measures include:• Keeping all areas around the flocks clean.• Ensuring that new birds added to the flock are free of any signs of disease.• Observing flocks for any signs of sickness.• Reporting signs of sick birds• Additional biosecurity recommendations are available at usda.gov, click on the "avian influenza" box. Sick birds can also be reported through the same website.
