Tamaqua pool will reopen Sunday

The Tamaqua public works director has indicated that the H.D. Buehler Memorial Pool at Tamaqua Bungalow Park will reopen to the public Sunday, according to an update released Friday morning by Tamaqua Councilman Justin Startzel.

The pool has been closed since Tuesday when a wave of destructive storms brought 4.1 inches of rain, inundating the recreation area and filling the park's two pools with an estimated 400,000 gallons of muddy water, stones and debris.

The destruction, however, launched an outpouring of cooperation among borough workers, volunteers, life guards and others who worked non-stop since Wednesday to shovel out debris and hose away the mud.

Season passes held by Tamaqua pool patrons are being honored at the Lansford Community Pool, returning a favor from last year when the Lansford pool was closed for repairs, prompting Tamaqua Borough to welcome Lansford pool patrons to the Tamaqua pool.
