East Penn Township supervisors reorganize

Dean Kerscmar and Jacob Nothstein will retain their seats as chairman and vice chairman of East Penn Township's board of supervisors following unanimous votes during Monday night's reorganization meeting.

The remaining three board members are Deanna L. Cunfer, Cory Smith and John M. Strockoz.Township meetings will continue to be on the first Monday night of the month at 5 p.m. at the East Penn Social Hall with the exception of an Aug. 10 and Sept. 8 meeting.Other appointments included Deanna Cunfer, township secretary, planning commission secretary, sewer billing clerk, open records officer and assistant treasurer; Tracy Burbage, treasurer; Cory Smith, roadmaster, fire chief and member of the Carbon County solid waste advisory committee; Michael Hudson, one-year term on the vacancy board; James Nanovic, solicitor; Carl Wolfe Jr., sewage enforcement officer; Scott Bieber, alternate sewage enforcement officer; James Lambert and David Nothstein, three-year terms on the zoning hearing board; Richard Dietrich, zoning officer; Carl Faust, alternate zoning officer and building code official; Robert M. Kleintop Jr., assistant fire chief and emergency management coordinator; and Bruce Steigerwalt, township engineer.A position on the Lehigh Canal Recreation Commission is being left vacant and the township's parks commission and recreation board will merge to form a five-member entity.
