St. John Neumann holds Academic Bowl

One look at their finished products shows St. John Neumann Regional School students really had their imaginations put to the test.

Their continued pursuit of academic excellence was on full display during the school's Academic Bowl held recently at the school's Palmerton campus.Caitlyn Kratzer, a fifth-grade student at the school's Palmerton campus, said she focused her project on a soccer ball distance experiment.Caitlyn said she chose to do her project on that subject because she's played soccer since the age of 4.She wanted to determine if in fact a soccer ball will travel different distances in varying weather conditions. Her hypothesis was that the weather does alter the distance a ball travels, and that it will travel the furthest in warm, sunny conditions as opposed to colder weather with rain, snow or extreme cold."I knew a lot of stuff before, but it was still fun to do," Caitlyn said. "I just did it, and I think it turned out pretty well."Instructor Ann Kester said the students created some rather impressive works, and enjoyed themselves in the process.Pupils in grades K-3 attend the school's Slatington campus, while students in grades 4-8 attend its Palmerton campus. To arrange a personal tour of the school, call the Slatington campus at 610-787-2935, or the Palmerton campus at 610-826-2354.For more information, visit
