Northern Lehigh approves changes

Change orders at one of its elementary schools will cost Northern Lehigh School District $18,660.

On an 8-0 vote, the school board on Monday approved the change orders to the Elliott-Lewis contract for the cooling tower and boilers at Peters Elementary, to be paid from the district's capital projects account.Other businessThe board also:• Approved the submission of PlanCon Part K to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for the refinancing of the Series 2010 bonds, and partial refinancing of the Series 2011 bonds.• Acknowledged that teachers Jessica Frew and Gina Orr have completed the requirements that would entitle them to a salary increase for the 2015-16 school year.• Recommended to approve "professional employee" status as per the school code for teachers Andrew Kern and Amber Kuntz, who have satisfactorily completed three years of service to the district.• Approved Jon Prive as helping teacher, and Michelle Hock as inductee, in the Northern Lehigh School District Induction Program for the 2015-16 school year.• Renewed the appointment of the following substitute teachers for the 2015-16 school year at the 2015-16 substitute teacher rates as approved on the Supplementary Personnel Salary Schedule: Jennifer Balliet, elementary; Thomas Battista, health & physical education; Stephanie Boyer, special education PK-8, elementary K-4; James Fisher, social studies; Kacey Galasso, elementary K-4; Sarah Gordon, elementary; Kerri Imschweiler, elementary; Dawn Kemery, elementary; Katherine Kern, elementary; Caitlin Makoul, elementary and ESL; Michelle McCormick, elementary; Patricia Passick, art K-12; Gabriele Pergosky, elementary grades 4-6, math and science grade 7-8; Candace Steffie, elementary; Megan Wagner, elementary PK-4; Jane Wessner, elementary; Frances Williams, social studies, special education K-12; Stephanie Yelles, elementary.• Renewed the appointment of Ann Marie Belo, Janice Herzog, Laura Olinger, Christine Sigley, Tina Williams and Claudia Young, as substitute secretaries/aides for the 2015-16 school year.• Renewed the appointment of Connie Graaf, John Passaro, Betty Rowland, Christine Sigley, Barbara Tobisch and Claudia Young as substitute cafeteria workers for the 2015-16 school year.• Renewed the appointment of Ann Marie Belo, John Madura Jr., John Passaro, Jon Rinker, Eric Schaner, Matthew Waters and Claudia Young as substitute custodians for the 2015-16 school year.• Approved to appoint Patricia Ingles as the administrative detention supervisor in the senior high school. She will work Monday through Thursday from 2:30-4 p.m. throughout the 2015-16 school year that warrants detention coverage. Her salary will be $20 per hour worked.• Approved to appoint Debra Knerr and Dawn Tulio as administrative detention supervisors in the middle school. Knerr will cover the Monday detentions from 2:20 to 3:20 p.m., while Tulio will cover the Wednesday detentions from 2:20 to 3:20 p.m. They will work throughout the 2015-16 school year on Mondays and Wednesdays that warrant detention coverage. Their salary will be $20 per hour worked.• Approved the following co-curricular positions for the 2015-16 school year: Susan Bachman, elementary scholastic scrimmage, $458; Christopher Barnes, middle school newspaper adviser, $479; Jonathan DeFrain, senior high student council adviser, $2,173; Ashlie Eckert, SADD adviser, $581; Michelle Hock, high school newspaper adviser, $1,903; Andrew Kern, middle school web page adviser, $423; Michael Lehtonen, high school scholastic scrimmage adviser, $846; Christine Leslie, Debate adviser, $1,449; Mary Ann S. Mattiola, yearbook adviser, $2,520; Randal Utsch, majorette/band adviser, $2,173; James Corle, Kim Corle, Rebecca Hamm, Matt Newhard, Christina Oertner and Jason Steigerwalt as co-curricular volunteer band advisers for the 2015-16 school year.
