Hit-and-run driver found

A driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in Schuylkill County on April 20 has been located and charged.

State police at Frackville said the hit-and-run crash occurred sometime between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the area of 214 Reed St., Girardville.A vehicle driven northbound struck a parked 2002 Saturn SC2 owned by Robert Hollenbach, 24, of Girardville, then fled the scene. The Saturn was legally parked along the east berm of the street. Damages were minor to the driver's side rear fender of the Saturn.On Friday troopers found the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle and identified him as Steven Melsom, 19, of Girardville. He was driving a 2000 Chrysler Concorde when he struck the Saturn, troopers said.Melsom has been charged with operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license and damage to unattended vehicle or property. Troopers added that the owner of the Chrysler, Francis Kehler III of Girardville, will be charged with his vehicle being operated without insurance.
