Lehighton band concert will benefit 150th event

In the mood to dance the night away?

If so, then the Rockin' Lehighton Band Concert is the place to be on Saturday.The event will be held from 4:30-9 p.m. in the Lehighton Area Middle School gymnasium. Doors open at 4 p.m.Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for students or $12 at the door, and may be purchased at Carbon County Music and More, Lehighton Hardware, the Lehighton Memorial Library, RPM (Ritter Precision Machining) and the Lehighton Borough Office.The concert is a fundraiser for The Lehighton 150th Anniversary Celebration, an eight-day event that will be held the last week of June 2016.Clark Ritter, steering committee co-chair for The Lehighton 150th Anniversary Celebration, said holding a band concert was discussed several months ago.Ritter said the goal of the band concert, as well as other upcoming events, is to raise money toward the projected anniversary celebration's $55,000 budget.Tyler Ritter, a junior at Lehighton Area High School and lead guitarist for the popular local group

A.D.D., is spearheading the band concert as a school project.Tyler's parents, along with Band Concert Committee members, are lending a hand as well, said Clark Ritter, Tyler's grandfather.Four groups,

A.D.D., Evolution Breakdown, Mike Stanley and Friends, and No Service Available, will perform."With the varied genre of the four groups, there will be something for everyone," Ritter said.Dancing and a basket raffle will also be held during the concert, with refreshments available at the concession stand, he said.Anyone who would like to contribute an item for the basket raffle may do so before Friday. Items can be taken to the borough office.Those who wish to make a monetary donation may mail a check, made to the order of "The Lehighton 150th Anniversary Celebration," to the borough secretary at the borough office, 1 Constitution Ave., Lehighton, Pa."Tyler and the steering committee for The Lehighton 150th Anniversary Celebration, would like to thank the Lehighton Area School Board and Lehighton Area High School, Mr. Reichl and Mr. Spotts for their interest, enthusiasm, assistance and cooperation in helping to make this event happen," Ritter said.
