Lions Clubs host district governor

The Lions Clubs of Coaldale and Summit Hill conducted a joint meeting at the Viennese Villa in Coaldale on Oct. 21.

They hosted Sharon E. Kimmel, governor of Multiple District 14, Pennsylvania; Lions International.The meeting was presided over by Robert Ames, president of the Coaldale Lions. Assisting was Judy Midas, president of the Summit Hill Lions Club.District Gov. Kimmel described the challenges to Lions organizations, her program and the priorities of District 14.Recruiting new members and maintaining satisfied current members is essential. She challenged the members of the two clubs to become involved both at the local and at the district level.She encouraged the local membership to respond to a survey regarding their individual satisfaction as Lions.Regarding priorities, she considers youth activities, especially LEO clubs, an important source of future Lions members. Kimmel described District 14's main goals for 2014-2015.Five Coaldale Lions were honored by Lions International for significant membership milestones. Lion Paul Sheers was honored for 50 consecutive years of Lions membership.The benediction was given by the Rev. James Burdess, a member of the Summit Hill Lions Club.
