Turnpike travel advisory; parking restrictions

A travel advisory was issued at 6:30 a.m. for the Northeastern Region of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Weather forecast agencies are predicting rain, sleet and mixed with snow for Wednesday. Please drive according to roadway conditions and allow plenty of travel time to reach your destination safely.

Maintenance crews in Northeastern Region are reporting that the roadway is wet and visibility is good. All abandoned vehicles are being removed from the turnpike to permit crews to treat and plow. Do not pass plows while in operation.

LANSFORD

The borough of Lansford reminds all residents that winter parking bans are now in effect or will begin on December 1 on certain streets in the borough.

The following bans are in place:

NO PARKING from Midnight-8 a.m. on the south side of Ridge St.(angle parking spaces) from Springgarden St. to Centre St.(business district).

NO PARKING on Sharpe St. from Water St. to Kline Ave.

NO ANGLE parking on the 400 block of E. Bertsch St.(south side).

NO ANGLE parking on Springgarden St. between Ridge St. and Snyder Ave.

NO PARKING beginning on December 1 in the 200 and 300 blocks of West Kline Ave.

The borough snow plowing ordinance is also in effect. The day following a snowfall of 4 inches or more, on even-numbered days, all vehicles must be removed from the south and west sides of the street and on odd-numbered days, all vehicles must be removed from the north and west sides of the street. Ordinance plowing begins at 8 a.m.

Anyone who violates the ordinance, faces fines of $25-$30 and/or towing of the vehicle.
