Every man engaged in the mining industry in the Panther Creek Valley is assured of having money in his pay envelope for the holiday season after Lehigh Navigation Company officials announced that collieries in the valley would work on a better schedule.

The move to operate the collieries, even though demand is lacking, was seen as a good will gesture and was received with much satisfaction, as it demonstrated that officials have realized the desperate plight of the workers during this period of economic stress.
