Recycle unwanted electronics and appliances

There will be a free electronics recycling day from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, at the Nesquehoning Borough Office on 114 W. Catawissa St.

Items that can be recycled free of charge include telephones/cellphones; LCD monitors/LCD (flat) TVs; stereos and speakers; cables and cords; keyboards and mice; UPS battery backups/laptop batteries; audio visual equipment/plotters; microwaves/small appliances; projectors/CRT monitors; smart boards; washers and dryers; desktop/laptop computers; gaming systems; printers/fax machines/floor copiers; copiers/scanners/print cartridges; metal items; calculators/adding machines; exercise equipment; DVD players/VCRs/filing cabinets; dishwashers; and ranges.Items that can be recycled with a fee include refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and floor freezers, for $20 each; unbroken televisions for $30; car batteries for $5 (sealed lead acid); household alkaline batteries for $2 per pound; light bulbs for $2 each; TVs (in wooden cabinet, projection-big screen) for $40; hard drive destruction (off site) for $10 per drive, includes a certificate of destruction; document shredding service (off site) for $10 per standard paper size box, includes a certificate of destruction.
