Auditor questions Penn Forest Township police presence

During public comment at Monday's Penn Forest Township meeting, township auditor, Matthew Schutter, continued to make claims against the board of supervisors and office staff.

Schutter said he was called and asked to bring his ID and other information to the township building last Wednesday."At 8 a.m. the following morning I received a phone call from a Pennsylvania State Trooper, Rabinal (sic) or something like that, telling me that if I come back to the township building I am going to be arrested," said Schutter."That's official oppression. How come every time I come to the township building the state police are here?" he asked."This is public comment, not a question-and-answer session," said township solicitor, Thomas Nanovic. There were no other comments made by the board on Schutter's claims. Also attending Monday's meeting was resident, Ken Gilmore of Forest Drive in Pleasant Valley Estates.Gilmore has been awaiting a response from Pleasant Valley Estates regarding a questionable road and drainage project that was completed over a year ago.According to Gilmore, the project changed the flow of the storm water from the original plan without proper design or permitting.Township engineer, Greg Pavlik of Barry Isett & Associates has heard from the development's attorney."He responded to the township's initial inquiry and the discussion with PVE is ongoing," said Pavlik. The board approved a motion to send a letter, drafted by Pavlik to Pleasant Valley Estates outlining what should have been done, what needs to be done and the enforcement remedies under the SALDO.In other business, the supervisors also approved a motion to switch back to Quick Books from Edmunds accounting software. The change will take place after the 2013 audit is complete, but during the 2014 fiscal year. The third installment, a payment in the amount of $70,982.10 was approved for Papillon and Moyer Excavation and Paving for the recreation park project. An electronics recycling program is being scheduled for some time in May.
